The risk analysis framework

APVMA uses the risk analysis framework (see Figure) which separates risk assessment (the scientific analysis of all relevant scientific information and data relating to the human health, environmental and trade risks arising from the use of pesticides and veterinary medicines) from risk management (consideration of the outcome of risk assessments, relevant regulatory policies, and other relevant information to develop, recommend and implement options to manage the identified risks).  Risk communication should provide for exchange of information and opinions on elements of the risk assessment and on the proposed risk management steps.
