Regulatory update #202
1 January 2015 changes
Application fee increase—final phase
The final of a three-phase application fee increase will take effect from 1 January 2015. This five per cent increase brings charges back in line with the 40 per cent cost recovery target outlined in the cost recovery impact statement published in November 2012.

From 1 January 2015 the distinguishing name for a product no longer has to be the same name on the product container label and multiple labels can be approved for one product—read more.
Simple changes to details are now easier
It will be easier to vary the details of an existing registered product from 1 January 2015. Using APVMA online services people can make multiple changes to one product—for a single fee—read more.
Industry engagement 2015
We plan to increase our engagement with industry, stakeholders and the community throughout 2015 through a series of face-to-face events.
Christmas mail and office closure
Tuesday 23 December is the last day for mail services for 2014. Any hardcopy and electronic mail, including electronic application submissions, will be processed from 5 January 2015. An application submitted between 24 December 2014 and 31 December 2014 that is not processed until 5 January 2015 will not be affected by the 1 January 2015 fee change.
The APVMA will close for the Christmas break at close of business Wednesday 24 December, reopening Friday 2 January 2015.
Monitoring of marketed product labels
The APVMA is undertaking a monitoring program of the labels attached to containers as supplied in the marketplace. Approval holders are responsible for ensuring that marketed product labels (MPLs) meet the requirements of the Agvet Code.
The first products to be monitored will be those containing diuron, carbendazim and dichlorvos, which have been the subject of new labelling requirements, following reviews by APVMA. We will shortly write to companies marketing these products requesting copies of current MPLs.
Initially, monitoring will involve a desktop review of MPLs. Field monitoring will also be undertaken as necessary.
