Consultation period

19 January 2016 to 16 February 2016

The APVMA is considering an application for the registration of the product Bollgard III, containing the new active constituent, Vip3A  in combination with Cry1Ac and Cry2Ab.

Bollgard III is a genetically modified (GM) cotton that expresses the insecticidal proteins, Vip3A, Cry1AC and Cry2Ab and is for protection against the cotton pests Native Budworm Helicoverpa punctigera (Native Budworm) and Helicoverpa armigera (Cotton Bollworm).

We invite comment from 19 January 2016 to 16 February 2016 on whether registration of the product should be granted.

The APVMA is able to consider comments relating to the legislative grounds for registration, including:

  • occupational health and safety
  • public health
  • chemistry and manufacture
  • residues in food
  • environmental safety
  • trade
  • efficacy and target crop safety.
