Regulatory update #229
Industry Information and Education Program for 2016
The next industry information and education event will be held in Melbourne on 9 May 2016 and registrations are now open.
The second event for 2016 will be held in Canberra in September/October. The two-day event will include a science feature day as well as an update of the material presented in Melbourne.
Please note: while there will be no event in Sydney for 2016, Sydney-based participants are encouraged to attend either Melbourne or Canberra—there are plenty of places available for both locations.
For more information and registrations please check our events page.

This survey is part of our online services useability review. It only takes a few minutes to complete and it's anonymous.
Your feedback is appreciated and will be used to build better products and services—take the survey before it closes.
Primary and secondary applications
Changes to the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Regulations 1995 came into effect on 1 March 2016, formalising the arrangements for managing primary and secondary applications.
Information has been updated on the APVMA website. This includes the removal of the Guideline 'Treatment of primary and secondary applications'.
We recommend applicants to seek pre-application assistance (PAA) for these applications and to utilise the ‘related applications’ field to clearly link primary and secondary applications.
Waiver period extended for current 161 notifications and veterinary active constituents
We have extended the period to waive or refund fees associated with Item 18 applications for veterinary active constituents until the end of June 2016.
This transition measure means that for all the existing section 161 notifications already received by the APVMA, applicants will not be charged for variations where the APVMA redirects the 161 notification to an application item.
The refund for any new 161 notifications for variations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
More information about making changes to veterinary products and applications is available on our website.
