Progress on APVMA permanent Armidale office
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has made further progress towards establishing a permanent presence in Armidale, New South Wales, following the appointment of a local engineering firm, JNC Group, who will contribute to the design and fit-out of the regulator’s new office.
APVMA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Chris Parker, said that the agency had been busy progressing the procurement of a range of property services that will contribute to the planning and development of the APVMA’s long-term accommodation.
“We’ve contracted a number of companies who are supporting the development of our permanent office and it’s great to add a local firm to this mix,” Dr Parker said.
“JNC Group is an Indigenous business based in Armidale with capabilities across building, commercial fit-out, civil construction, infrastructure, signage, security fencing and commercial landscaping.
“Partnering with other local architects, JNC Group will provide the necessary expertise and a valuable perspective that will complement our permanent local setting in Armidale.”
The contract with JNC Group is valued at $114,000 and will involve concept and schematic design for architectural and engineering components of the internal fit-out of the APVMA permanent office.
“We’re also getting closer to an outcome on the request for construction services for our permanent office and I envisage JNC Group will be working closely with the successful tenderer early in the new year,” Dr Parker said.
The national regulator is currently operating from two premises—one in Canberra, and an interim office established in Armidale, co-located with the Department of Human Services.
