As a veterinarian, you must also be aware of your local state, territory and other Australian Government legislation. This can include – among others – health, biosecurity and control of use legislation.

Veterinarians need to operate within the limitations of their prescribing privileges in their state or territory.

You should obtain details of relevant state and territory laws and operate within the limitations of your prescribing privileges specified in those laws. Prescribing privileges may not always extend to using veterinary chemical products in food-producing species.
