Active constituents are the substance(s) in an agricultural or veterinary chemical product that are primarily responsible for a product's biological or other effects. With limited exceptions, each source (manufacturing site) of an active constituent must be approved under either section 14 or section 14A of the Agvet Code, either before, or at the same time as, a product containing the active is being registered.
Record of approved active constituents
The record of approved active constituents for chemical products is updated on a regular basis. The publicly available information recorded in respect of approved active constituents can be found in our PubCRIS database.
All approved active constituents (including those approved under section 14A of the Agvet Code) can be found in PubCRIS. The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) publishes notices of approval of each active constituent in the APVMA Gazette at the time of approval.
