The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) recognises the value of information reported by industry and the community to detect, deter, disrupt and report non-compliance in the agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemical sector. Reports may include information about the:
- advertising and supply of unregistered agvet chemicals
- inappropriate manufacture of veterinary chemical products
- importation of unregistered agvet chemicals.
Report suspected non-compliance online via our
non-compliance reporting form.
Giving false or misleading information is a serious offence. Civil penalty provisions may also apply.
If you wish to discuss a non-compliance matter, learn how to report a matter, or if you are unable to submit an online non-compliance report, please contact the APVMA via:

How we manage non-compliance reports
All reports received by the APVMA, including complainant details, are treated confidentially. However, we may be obliged to disclose all details of an investigation if a matter proceeds to court or if we are otherwise compelled to provide the information by law.
All reports of suspected non-compliance submitted using the reporting form are acknowledged upon receipt and prioritised for action on the basis of risk. Risk is based on the potential (or actual) for harm to people, animals, the environment, and international trade.
The APVMA cannot normally comment on specific compliance and enforcement activities, including providing any details of its investigations to a complainant. This is to preserve the rights of all parties (such as the presumption of innocence) while investigations are underway. Notwithstanding this limitation, we respond to correspondence in accordance with our service charter to the extent that confidentiality and privacy considerations allow.
Privacy and your personal information
Your personal information is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
The APVMA is collecting your personal information for the purpose of making enquiries relating to suspected non-compliant activity regarding agricultural or veterinary chemical products. Providing your contact details allows us to seek further information or clarification if necessary. If contact details are not provided this may result in your report not being actioned.
The APVMA will limit the collection, use and disclosure of personal information to what is necessary to undertake enquiries into the report of non-compliance.
All reports are treated in confidence; however, the release of details may be required to comply with legislation or a court order. Personal information will only be disclosed where required by, or authorised under an Australian law.
The APVMA will handle all personal information in accordance with the APVMA’s Privacy Policy. The Policy contains information about how an individual may access or amend personal information by the APVMA, deal with the APVMA anonymously, or make a complaint about the APVMA’s handling of personal information.
