The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) can issue short-term permits for the manufacture of veterinary chemical products in Australia.

Permit applications are only considered under exceptional circumstances.

The APVMA may grant an application for a veterinary manufacturing permit in contravention of the Agvet Code only where there are exceptional circumstances. The facility must be able to demonstrate compliance with the APVMA’s Manufacturing Principles.

Manufacturing permits are not to be used to circumvent Good Manufacturing Practice requirements for the manufacture of veterinary chemical products.

Permit applications must be accurate, complete and accompanied by the prescribed fee. Providing false or misleading information can result in penalties. Applicants need to provide specific information to support the application to ensure it meets the relevant statutory criteria.
