The diagram below depicts the process involved for permit approval.

This diagram depicts the flow of an application for approval of a permit through the APVMA’s assessment process: After being lodged the application will undergo preliminary assessment and either move through to evaluation or be refused or be issued with a notice of defects which have to be rectified before the application can move onto evaluation. At any time after preliminary assessment the application may be altered with the applicants consent. The application is then evaluated against the statutory criteria, which may involve clarification of the information provided or re-categorisation. If the statutory criteria are met, the permit is issued; if not, the application is refused. The applicant may withdraw their application at any time prior to the application being determined.
