The Schedule prescribes disinfectant products containing the following active constituents as reserved chemical products:
- Benzalkonium chloride
- Glutaraldehyde
- Hydrogen peroxide
- O-benzyl-p-chlorophenol
- Ortho-phenylphenol
- Peroxyacetic acid
- Phosphoric acid
- Sodium hydroxide
- Sodium hypochlorite
- Sulfamic acid
- Sulfuric acid
This list was correct as of 2 June 2023. For full details of the Schedule, refer to the Agvet Code Regulations.
For a new product or class of products to be added to the Reserved Schedule, the APVMA must make a recommendation to the minister, stating we are satisfied that the product or class of products meets the safety, efficacy and trade criteria, and meets certain other conditions. If the minister approves, the Governor-General may then amend the regulations to add the product or class of products to the list.
