Proposed approval of the new active constituent, derquantel and registration of Startect Broad Spectrum Oral Drench For Sheep

The APVMA is considering an application for the registration of Startect Broad Spectrum Oral Drench For Sheep and to approve the new active constituent, derquantel. The product is to be registered for the treatment and control of a broad range of susceptible adult and immature gastrointestinal nematodes of sheep, including those resistant to levamisole, benzimidazoles, macrocyclic lactones and closantel.

We invite comment from 12 August 2014 to 12 September 2014 on whether the application for approval of the active constituent and registration of the product should be granted

The APVMA is able to consider comments relating to the legislative grounds for registration, including:

  • occupational health and safety
  • safety and first aid
  • chemistry and manufacture
  • residues
  • environmental fate and toxicity
  • trade
  • efficacy.
