The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) invites written submissions on the proposed regulatory decision and the draft statement of reasons in relation to the reconsideration of malathion, which were published in a Special Gazette on 22 November 2022.
The APVMA is able to consider submissions in relation to the statutory criteria that must be satisfied in order for the APVMA to affirm the malathion approvals and registrations. These are:
- safety, including:
- occupational health and safety
- public health
- environmental safety
- efficacy and target crop safety
- trade, including residues in food
- labelling, including the adequacy of instructions for use on the label.
Submissions received
The APVMA sought comments from interested stakeholders on the proposed regulatory decision and the draft statement of reasons in relation to the reconsideration of malathion, in a consultation that closed on 23 February 2023.
Three submissions were received from industry groups. A copy of the published submissions (where consent to publish was provided) is available on the APVMA website.
