The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) maintains current details about agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemical products registered for use in Australia or approved for use under permit.
There are 2 main ways of accessing this information online:
PubCRIS database
The APVMA's Public Chemical Registration Information System Search (PubCRIS) provides details about agvet chemical products including the product name, registering company, active constituents, product category (e.g. insecticide, fungicide or herbicide), and host and pest information.
Once you locate a product in PubCRIS, in most cases, you will also be able to view a copy of the product's label.
Dataset for registered chemical products and approved actives
A dataset containing agvet chemical products and approved active constituents is available for download. This contains the same information that is available when searching for registered chemical products on our Online Services Portal.
The dataset is freely available on data.gov.au
Permits database
The Permits database allows you to search for products that may be available under a permit for off-label use (that is, for a use not authorised by the registration conditions of use).
You can search by the name of the product or active chemical, by the permit number (if you know it), by the crop/animal you want to treat, or by the pest or purpose that you need to manage. The Permits database also allows you to filter by date ranges or by a specific state or territory.
Boolean search quick reference guide
You can get greater search functionality out of PubCRIS and the Permits search depending on how you search. We recommend using our Boolean search quick reference guide.
