The principal planning documents for the APVMA are our Strategic Plan and Corporate Plan.

The Strategic Plan sets out the strategic objectives and outcomes needed to drive our focus and decision making in pursuit of our purpose and to play our role as the regulator of agricultural and veterinary (Agvet) chemicals within Australia’s regulatory system. The preparation of the Strategic Plan is guided by the Ministerial Statement of Expectations and any Ministerial Directions.

The preparation of the Corporate Plan is required by the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Administration) Act 1992. It is guided by the Strategic Plan and sets out in further detail the key activities we will undertake to achieve our purpose, and the results we expect to achieve over a 4-year period. It also describes the environment within which we operate and explains how our performance will be measured and reporting on each year. The APVMA must submit the Corporate Plan to the Minister for approval each year by 1 June.
