The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is considering an application for approval of the new active constituent, lipoteichoic acid (LTA) from biofilm adhesion component (BAC) of Streptococcus uberis, strain 5616 and the registration of the product, UBAC Inactivated Subunit Vaccine against Streptococcus uberis for Cattle, which is for the active immunisation of healthy cows and heifers to reduce the incidence of clinical intramammary infections caused by Streptococcus uberis, to reduce the somatic cell count in Streptococcus uberis positive quarter milk samples and to reduce milk production losses caused by Streptococcus uberis intramammary infections.
We invite comments from 21 December 2023 to 18 January 2024 on whether approval of the active constituent and registration of the product should be granted.
The APVMA is able to consider comments relating to the legislative grounds, including:
- chemistry and manufacture
- occupational health and safety
- public health
- environmental safety
- efficacy and target animal safety.
