In 2015, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) initiated the permit-to-label project to improve access to agricultural and veterinary chemical products by migrating uses from current permits to a registered product label. The initiative aimed to provide greater certainty to industry through the registration of eligible use patterns, removing the need for industry to periodically apply to the APVMA for the renewal of permits.
We are pleased to advise that the permit-to-label outcomes to date have been published on our website and the project has now been formally closed.
A full list of permit-to-label outcomes to date are available on our website. Applicants can apply for permit-to-label uses for eligible products via an Item 12 application, noting the discounted fee will not be applicable if the invitation period has expired.
Applicants can also still apply for permit-to-label uses if the invitation remains relevant for their product.
Since commencement of the project in 2015, the APVMA has sent more than 1,300 invitation letters to product registrants, offering discounted registration of uses from 203 permits covering 64 active constituents. The APVMA received 257 applications to add eligible uses to product labels during the discounted fee period.
Noting the success of this project, we are now exploring ways to incorporate the permit-to-label process into our core business in the future.
