Part of the registration process for agvet chemicals is determining what personal protective equipment is suitable to minimise exposure.

The assessment considers the full range of risks associated with exposure to a chemical product and how the instructions for use on the label may reduce exposure to the user. This includes what to wear.

If the product label says to wear specific protective clothing, such as eye protection or gloves, then that that is the precaution you should take when using that chemical product. This applies to anyone involved in any aspect of using or handling—including transport, storage and end-use.

If the product label says to wear specific protective clothing such as gloves and goggles, wear them.

The simple rule for anyone using agricultural and veterinary chemicals is ‘always follow the label safety and use instructions’.
