Consultation period
10 December 2024 to 31 January 2025

Background

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is seeking feedback on its Trade Advice Notice on products containing antimicrobials for growth promotion in cattle and sheep destined for European markets.

This Trade Advice Notice has been developed to address the European Union decision to ban the import of edible animal products derived from animals fed antimicrobial compounds for the purpose of growth promotion from September 2026. It includes proposed amendments to labels of products containing the antimicrobials flavophospholipol, monensin, lasalocid, narasin and salinomycin and affects use patterns in sheep and dairy and beef cattle.

We invite submissions from 10 December 2024 to 31 January 2025 on the Trade Advice Notice.

Please note: submissions will be published on the APVMA’s website, unless you have asked for the submission to remain confidential, or if the APVMA chooses at its discretion not to publish any submissions received (refer to the public consultation coversheet).

Making a Submission

Please lodge your submission using the public consultation coversheet, which provides options for how your submission will be published.

Note that all APVMA documents are subject to the access provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 and may be required to be released under that Act should a request for access be made.
