jetting fluid

An insecticide intended to be applied to sheep by a pressure device so as to saturate the fleece on specific areas of the animal.

Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA)

An international scientific committee that is administered jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). JECFA evaluates the safety of food additives, including contaminants, naturally occurring toxicants and residues of veterinary drugs in food.

juvenile hormone

A chemical produced by the corpora allata. This hormone is one of the three major insect development hormones, and is responsible for determining the type of moult that will occur when one is directed by ecdysone.
