Proposed approval of guar gum on the list of Active Constituents Not Requiring Evaluation

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is to add guar gum to the list of Active Constituents Not Requiring Evaluation. Guar gum has been evaluated and has met the criteria under Section 14A of the Agvet Code. It is intended to be listed as a modifier of viscosity with the identifier M(v).

We invite comment from 8 October 2013 to 5 November 2013 on whether the application should be granted.

The APVMA is able to consider comments relating to the legislative grounds for registration, including:

  • occupational health and safety
  • safety and first aid
  • chemistry and manufacture
  • residues
  • environmental fate and toxicity
  • trade
  • efficacy.
